Two weeks ago I requested vacation for this week. The policy is that requests need to be in at least 5 days before leave and management has 3 days to approve or deny. If they don't do anything (and that happens a lot), the request is considered approved. I got an email that confirmed receipt of the request.Last Thursday at 4:45 pm, management said that they wouldn't approve my leave. There were emails between management, the Union, and myself. Management never acknowledged that I'm allowed to take leave this week, but at a meeting today, it was said I was on vacation... Hopefully they won't try to fire me, but I have the pod people coming on Thursday to load almost everything we own into a crate to be shipped to Sydney.
I really hate packing. I hate moving. Obviously I should be packing boxes now rather than complaining about it in my blog...
I know how you feel about packing. Although after doing it so many times, it just comes natural after a bit! :)
ReplyDeleteJust think of this as a good time to dump things you haven't looked at in years.
When we moved to Sydney, I stupidly gave away four bookshelves of books to the library for their booksale. That was good for the library, but bad for me. I thought that books would be cheaper in Australia and I would just replace them. But no--a paperback novel costs around $20.00, not to mention the high cost of academic books! Music CD's are between $24 and $35. Live and learn...
Well... have a good move! Hope everything goes well without a problem! =)
